Anam Cara

Growing up and growing older, we see our dear friendships go through many fases. As life throws us our individual challenges, sometimes leaving us burnt out, self conscious, etc.. a sort of divide may arise..

This painting represents the tipping point in a friendship.. Life will give us keys/scissors and the Question is, do we pick up our heart-keys or is it the scissors that take the upper hand.

Anam Cara (Soul Friend) speaks of a sacred bond strained by silence. The two figures are twisted together, facing each other yet turned away, reflecting the discord of connection and distance.

Mouthless because they cannot find the words, yet their hearts whisper the truth - heads emerging, reaching out desperately, reminding us the love is still there.

Bound by an umbilical cord of shared soul, they stand encircled by candles - some burned out, symbols of light lost, but not forgotten.

Keys and scissors scatter the ground, offering a choice: to unlock each other’s hearts or to let go.

Beneath a waning gibbous moon, representing a fase of reflecting, hope lingers in the shadows, waiting to be rekindled, holding space for hope and healing
